Possibly your download is blocked when using Chrome :

The cause of this notification is due to the fact that the downloaded file is an executable file (The Office installation). Therefore, Google Chrome also names it as dangerous. This is by default when Safe Browsing is activated. The file is indeed executable (otherwise we cannot install Office) but is not dangerous (you can always scan the file with your antivirus software to confirm this).

You can solve this by :

1. Use Windows Edge as your browser to download or : 
2. In Google Chrome, click on the three dots at the top right and then select downloads. You will then see a list containing all your downloads including the failed download of the Office file.
3. At the failed download, click on the three dots : and choose "download dangerous file anyway" (we repeat that the file is perfectly safe and can be checked for viruses after the download to confirm this)

In exceptional cases, it may be that your download via the Edge browser fails and you receive the following message:

With explorer, go to c:program dataMicrosoftofficelicences and delete all the files that are in this directory

What you can try if you cannot install or activate Office for Mac

Licenses for Mac are always installed at https://setup.office.com where you will link your license key to your account and download your software.

After this, you cannot use the license key. You may then briefly surf to https://account.microsoft.com/services and log in there with the same account you used during the initial installation.

Do you see your license there ? If yes, then everything is in order. If no, you need to be sure you are logging in with the right account (caution ! The same email address can be both a Private and a Business/IT account).

For Windows :

After entering your license key and activation, your Windows is automatically linked to your Mac address of your computer. This is because Microsoft creates a profile of your device. How to remove the product key of an office product?

Sometimes you are in a situation where you want to delete an Office product key without deleting the entire Office program. Or that you only want to remove/change a product key.

With the method below, this is certainly possible. However, I would like to point out the following wise: Please note these steps are not for beginners and require some technical knowledge / understanding. Everything is entirely at your own risk and we cannot offer any support in this matter either.

That said let's get right to work.

Step 1: open command prompt and run control script

• Open command prompt as administrator(start type in cm and then right click run as administrator.
• With cmd open, you can run the script below to see what product codes are installed on your system

cscript "%ProgramFiles%Microsoft OfficeOffice16ospp.vbs" /dstatus

If you have a 64 bit version of Office installed you will get an error message.

No worries then use this script:

A little note: You see Office16 in this example. That stands for Office 2016/2019. If you have an older version then you choose Office 2013 Office15 and Office 2010 Office 14

Importantly, there may be multiple codes installed in your situation(for the same product). Write down only the last 5 characters you WANT to delete. So it may be that you have Office 2019 installed but have multiple codes installed. Or another office product of course

Step 2: Actually deleting the product key

Do you have the last 5 characters? Then we can actually remove the code now

We do this with the script below:

cscript "%ProgramFiles%Microsoft OfficeOffice16ospp.vbs" /unpkey:xxxxx   

Or if you get an error message:

cscript "%ProgramFiles(x86)%Microsoft OfficeOffice16ospp.vbs" /unpkey:xxxxx

Obviously, the xxxxx are the last 5 characters of the product code you want to delete.

Step 3: It remains Microsoft so always reboot just to be sure

Yes this title says it all, always reboot. I was given this as a tip when a Microsoft employee after hours of searching still had not succeeded in clearing the system of a product key.

3. Then you get the choice to update this PC or create an installation for another PC. You choose the option create installation media for another PC if you want to do a clean installation or you choose upgrade if you want to start upgrading Windows 11 immediately.
4. In this screen, you can select the language. Please note that 64-bit is mandatory with Windows 11.
5. Now you will be asked which medium you want to use. I recommend choosing the USB flash drive option.
6. Now you get the option to select your usb stick. Make sure you select your USB stick and not a partition!
7. The installation media is now downloaded and installed on the usb stick
8. Now that the stick is ready place it in the system you want to reinstall.

Tip: Get everything in the bios right first. Modern motherboards have a Windows 10/11 mode. Also check the boot order.

Starting the installation itself most motherboards have the option to choose a boot device. Sometimes this is the F9 key. F11, f12. Want to be sure about this? Then check with the manual of the system/motherboard.

The installation will now be started. Now follow the steps indicated by Windows.
