The difference seems simple: 1 user or 6, but there are a few nuances that determine which package is the smartest choice for you.

What do Personal and Family have in common?

That is more than you might think:

Is this the same Microsoft 365 as from Microsoft itself?

Yes. Our licenses for Microsoft 365 are original Microsoft codes that you activate on your own Microsoft account. You download the apps via setup.office.com — exact same route as with a direct purchase from Microsoft. The only difference is the price. How do I activate my Microsoft 365 subscription?

Activation takes less than 10 minutes:

1. Go to office.com and log in with your personal Microsoft account (or create a free one).
2. Enter the 25-character product key you received from us by email. The subscription is now linked to your account and remains valid for one year.
3. Click on “Install” and the Office apps for your device are downloaded via Microsoft itself.
4. Open an Office app, sign in with the same Microsoft account — done. On your smartphone or tablet install the free Office apps and sign in with that same account.

With Family you later invite your family members in your Microsoft account. Each member gets their own mailbox, their own OneDrive and their own installation locations — fully privé, also for the primary user.
