If you have chosen Microsoft 365 (a subscription with always the latest Office apps, 1 TB of cloud storage, and use on multiple devices), then one question remains: Personal or Family?
The difference seems simple: 1 user or 6, but there are a few nuances that determine which package is the smartest choice for you.
Still unsure if a subscription is right for you? First, read our comparison Office 365 vs Office 2024 — what is the difference? There, we explain the difference between a subscription and a one-time purchase.
What do Personal and Family have in common?
That is more than you might think:
- The complete Office suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook — always the latest version. No Office 2021, no Office 2024 that ever becomes outdated, but one license that grows with you.
- Works on PCs, Macs, Chromebooks, smartphones, and tablets. No separate version needed per device.
- 1 TB OneDrive cloud storage per user — handy for keeping files safe and syncing between your devices.
- Microsoft Editor for automatic language and style checking in Word.
- An annual subscription that you renew with us each time using a new license code — no automatic renewal, no unexpected bills.
The difference, therefore, lies not in the apps or features, but in how many people can use the package and on how many devices simultaneously.
Microsoft 365 Personal — for 1 person
Microsoft 365 Personal is designed for a single user. Specifically:
- 1 user with one own Microsoft account.
- 5 devices on which you can install simultaneously — for example, your laptop, your work PC, your tablet, your phone, and your parents' PC that you work on occasionally.
- 1 TB OneDrive cloud storage.
- €84.90 per year at LicentiePromo.
Personal is the right choice if you work or study alone, possibly on multiple personal devices, and no one else in the house actively uses Office.
Microsoft 365 Family — for up to 6 people
Family is exactly the same package, but for a household, a family, or a fixed group of friends:
- 6 users, each with their own Microsoft account, own mailbox, own files, and own cloud storage.
- 30 devices total (up to 5 per user).
- 1 TB OneDrive per user — that is 6 TB of cloud storage in total, entirely private per person.
- €109.00 per year at LicentiePromo.
Family is the right choice whenever more than one person uses Office — for example, you and your partner, a family with school-aged children, or housemates who want to share the costs.
The price difference is surprisingly small
Let's do the math at the time of writing (May 2026):
| Personal | Family | |
| Price per year | €84,90 | €109,00 |
| Per user per year (at full usage) | €84,90 | €18,17 |
For just €24 extra per year, you get five extra user accounts, twenty extra device installations, and 5 extra TB of cloud storage. As soon as a second person in the household actively uses Office, Family is already more cost-effective than two separate Personal subscriptions.

Is this the same Microsoft 365 as at Microsoft itself?
Yes. Our Microsoft 365 licenses are genuine Microsoft codes that you activate on your own Microsoft account. You download the apps via setup.office.com — exactly the same route as a direct purchase from Microsoft. The only difference is the price. Read Is a cheap Microsoft license legal? for the full story.
How do I activate my Microsoft 365 subscription?
Activation takes less than 10 minutes:
- Go to office.com and log in with your personal Microsoft account (or create one for free).
- Enter the 25-character product key that you received from us by email. The subscription will now be linked to your account and remains valid for one year.
- Click on “Install” and the Office apps for your device will be downloaded via Microsoft itself.
- Open an Office app, sign in with the same Microsoft account — done. On your smartphone or tablet, install the free Office apps and sign in with that same account.
With Family , you invite your family members later via your Microsoft account. Each member gets their own mailbox, their own OneDrive, and their own installation locations — completely private, even for the main user.
