You obtain the software via digital download. Digital download is an electronically delivered product, allowing you to download and use your new software immediately. This means that a physical CD or DVD is not included with your purchase. The software installer is downloaded via cloud-based storage. You can then create a CD or USB installation medium yourself without any problem if you wish, but this is not necessary as the download remains publicly available in your account.

The cause of this warning is that the downloaded file is an executable file (the Office installation). Google Chrome therefore labels it as dangerous. This is standard when Safe Browsing is enabled. The file is indeed executable (otherwise we could not install Office) but it is not dangerous (you can always scan the file with your antivirus software to confirm this).

You can solve this by:

1. Use Windows Edge as the browser to download this or : 
2. Click in Google Chrome at the top right on the three dots and then select downloads. You will then see a list showing all your downloads, including the failed download of the Office file.
3. Click on the three dots when the download fails: and choose “download dangerous file anyway” (we repeat that the file is perfectly safe and can be checked for viruses after the download to confirm this)

In exceptional cases, it may happen that your download via the Edge browser fails and you receive the following message:

The cause of this message is Microsoft SmartScreen. This security mechanism warns in Windows 10/11 about unknown software that may be unsafe according to Microsoft. We explain what SmartScreen does, how to enable it, and what you should do with SmartScreen warnings.

The file you download is an image of a virtual DVD and on this DVD is the Office installation file. Smartscreen cannot read this image but correctly states that executable files (in this case the Office installation file) can be present on this image. If you are sitting behind the computer, you can right‑click the Start button in the lower left, then click Run.

In the command window type: SLUI 4 and press Enter.
Then select the country and click Next.

You will then see the installation ID at the bottom of the screen. You can use the website below to enter the ID.

You can choose 7 Digits and then enter the installation ID that is visible on the computer. After entering, click Next.

If all goes well, it now asks how many computers Windows is installed on; here you enter 0.

This means that there are still small remnants of your previous Office application. You can easily resolve this:

Close all your Office applications.

Go with Explorer to c:program dataMicrosoftofficelicences and delete all files that are in this directory

(possibly the folder program data is hidden for you. Click then at the top in your explorer on “view” and then “show hidden items”) 

Start Word again : you will be prompted to log in or you can choose to enter a product key. Do not log in but then re-enter the key and your identification should normally be correct as Office 2024.

What you can try if you cannot install or activate Office for Mac

Licenses for Mac are always geïnstalleerd via https://setup.office.com where you will link your license key to your account and can download your software.

After that you can no longer use the license key. You may then browse to https://account.microsoft.com/services and log in there with the same account you used for the initial installation.

Do you see your license there? If so, everything is fine. If not, make sure you are logged in with the correct account (caution! The same email address can be both a private and a Business/IT account).

For activation, you must ensure that you are logged into your local Office with the same account you used to log in on the previous page.

For Windows:

After entering your license key and activation, your Windows is automatically linked to the MAC address of your computer. Microsoft creates a profile of your device. Based on this data, during a new installation it checks whether your device was previously provided (with an activated version) of Windows 10/11. You can then reinstall it as many times as you wish on the same computer. You cannot use the license key on another PC.

For Office:

This depends on the type of license. Check the product description to see whether the product is suitable for installation via an account or only for one PC, or whether the installation is valid.

You create an Office account via https://setup.office.com and enter your license key. After that, your product will always be present in your Microsoft Account. You can verify this by going to https://account.microsoft.com/ to go and then click at the top of the menu on ‘services and subscriptions”, then you will find your product and can reinstall it. Note, only one installation is possible, so you must first remove your installation on the other computer.

Note: your original license key will no longer work if it is linked to your Microsoft Account and Microsoft will not allow a second use. You must therefore use your account for the reinstallation.

Attention, if you have not created a Microsoft Account or you have purchased a license without an account, you cannot reuse your license key to reinstall or activate!

1.  Navigate within Windows 10 Enterprise to: Settings > Updates and Security > Activation
2. In the activation window click the button change product key
3. Enter the bridging code here: VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T
4. click next and complete the process

If everything succeeded, you have now successfully downgraded your Windows 10 Enterprise to Windows 10 Pro. 

Now follow the next steps:

1.  Navigate within Windows 10 Enterprise to: Settings > Updates and Security > Activation
2. In the activation window click the button change product key
3. Enter your Windows 10 Pro product code
4. Click Next and you are done 

How do you remove the product key from an Office product?

Sometimes you find yourself in a situation where you want to remove an Office product key without removing the entire Office program. Or you only want to delete/change a product key.

With the method below this is certainly possible. However, I would like to inform you as follows: Note that these steps are not for beginners and require some technical knowledge/insight. Everything is done entirely at your own risk and we cannot provide any support.

That said, let's get started right away.

Step 1: open command prompt and run control script

• Open command prompt as administrator (start type in cm and then right-click run as administrator).
• If the cmd is open you can run the script below to see which product keys are installed on your system

cscript “%ProgramFiles%Microsoft OfficeOffice16ospp.vbs” /dstatus

If you have a 64-bit version of Office installed, you will get an error message.

No worries, use this script:

cscript “%ProgramFiles(x86)%Microsoft OfficeOffice16ospp.vbs” /dstatus

A small note: you see Office16 in this example. That stands for Office 2016/2019. If you have an older version, choose Office 2013 (Office15) and for Office 2010 (Office14)

You will then see a screen like this:

Important is that there may be multiple codes installed in your situation (for the same product). Note only the last 5 characters that you WANT to remove. It may therefore be that you Office 2019 is installed but there are multiple codes present installed. Or another office product of course

Step 2: Actually removing the product code

Do you have the last 5 characters? Then we can now actually delete the code

We do this with the script below:

cscript “%ProgramFiles%Microsoft OfficeOffice16ospp.vbs” /unpkey:xxxxx   

Or if you get an error message:

cscript “%ProgramFiles(x86)%Microsoft OfficeOffice16ospp.vbs” /unpkey:xxxxx

Obviously, the xxxxx are the last 5 characters of the product code you want to remove.

As in our case it was: cscript “%ProgramFiles(x86)%Microsoft OfficeOffice16ospp.vbs” /unpkey:jfjdp

Step 3: It's still Microsoft, so always reboot for safety

Yes, this title basically says it all: always reboot. I got this as a tip when a Microsoft employee, after hours of searching, still hadn't managed to strip the system of a product code.

And that's basically it.

In short:

• Open cmd (command prompt) as administrator
• Run the script to see which codes are on your system.
• Verify the last 5 characters match the code you want to delete
• Run the script to delete the code and you're done.

How do you install Project Professional 2021?

There are several methods for this, but we make it as easy as possible for you.

Clean Installation

3. Next, you get the choice to update this PC or create an installation for another PC. You choose the option "create installation media for another PC" if you want to do a clean installation, or you choose "upgrade" when you want to start the Windows 11 upgrade shortly.
4. In this screen you can select the language. Note: 64-bit is required for Windows 11.
5. Now you are asked which medium you want to use. I recommend choosing the USB flash drive option.
6. Now you get the option to select your USB stick. Make sure you actually select your USB stick and not a partition!
7. The installation media is now being downloaded and installed on the USB stick
8. Now that the stick is ready, place it in the system you want to reinstall.

Tip: First set everything correctly in the BIOS. Modern motherboards have a Windows 10/11 mode. Also check the boot order.

Start the installation itself; most motherboards have the option to choose a boot device. Sometimes this is the F9 key, F11, F12. Want to be sure? Check the system/motherboard manual.

The installation will now start. Follow the steps that Windows indicates.
